The project focuses on studying different interaction methods based on kinetic interaction and movement. If you are into game design or interested in art & entertainment installations, this is the project for you!
The project goal is to create an interactive media installation utilizing kinetic interaction, for example Xbox Kinect hacks or other movement detection methods + video projection. Deliverable of this project is an art installation directed by media artist Outi Kotala. The installation will be applied to these New Tech & Art exhibitions and contests: New Technology Art Awards 2012, Transmediale 2013, Sequences 2013, etc.
The other part of the project is more free-formed study project for possible game ideas utilizing kinetic interaction. This might be a good place to start planning your own game idea or even a start-up!
The project is looking for students:
• interested in game / interactive art design
• ability to code Xbox Kinect games or other movement detection interaction methods (for example MIDI based motion detection like Max, iSight etc )
• video and image manipulation skills
• sound design skills
Project partner will be participating on the team’s work regularly.
Outi Kotala has over 10 years experience on user experience design and media art. She currently owns and runs her own company Guidesi.
