Social music listening based on mood pictures

Genres are insufficient way of organizing music and ordinary people know only few genres. There is space for new innovation in categorizing music collections. The goal of the project is to help users organize and find music through pictures representing certain moods.

Project goal

Verify hypothesis that crowd-sourced associations between pictures and music help user to find music that matches their mood:

1. Develop a simple SW prototype to demonstrate key end-user features: listening music through pictures, adding new pictures and associating music to them, sharing picture playlists with other users.
2. Create representative set of pictures for defined moods (Photographs + image editing)
3. Perform a user study regarding how people associate selected songs to a limited set of pictures representing discrete moods. The user study will be designed (at least partially) by Nokia
