InnoSummer project 4/2011: Undisclosed & Share on the Spot

Facebook and similar services are popular places for social interaction and sharing of personal media amongst larger groups of friends. However, users tend not use these services for sharing personal content with their most inner circles of closest friends and family. A differently designed solution needs to be found for fulfilling these evident user needs.Project: Undisclosed

-Derive UX design guidelines, focus on identifying the key differences to mainstream social services.
-Develop a SW prototype to demonstrate key end-user features.

Desired skills/competencies

User research, UX design, software prototyping for mobile clients and service backend.

Project: Share on the Spot

Common sentences at a private party when people take photos of each other:
"Lets exchange photos by email later", or "You find my photos on my Facebook page."
There is a clear user need for creating and instantly sharing photos and video amongst the participants of a private event. However, this user need gets rarely is met. The technology is too complicated, requires too much effort from users, the delay until the media items are received is too long. This project demonstrates the optimal experience, technology is secondary.

Project Goals

Create an UX concept that stimulates people to take images and video at private events and to instantly share them with everyone at the event. Prototype the experience and improve iteratively with users.

Desired skills/competencies

User research, UX design, mobile software prototyping.
