Games for Pikku Kakkonen

Pikku Kakkonen website (yle.fi/pikkukakkonen) is one of the most popular and famous internet services for kids and their parents in Finland (Lasten Mediabarometri 2010). Children from ages 3 to 7 years practice web usage and get familiar with their first experiences with computer games.

What are we doing this year?

This year we are planning on making a project where kids can create and express their talents and themselves. The target audience is children from ages 3-7 and their parents / caretakers.

Small children enjoy tremendously when they can make things happen, when they can create something unique (picture, sound etc.) or name objects familiar to them.

We want to capture this unique phase of creativity, interest and excitement and present it on Pikku Kakkonen’s website. We want you to implement an application where kids can create and name something. The project as whole doesn’t have to be a traditional game, and it doesn’t need to have any story-like aspects or characters.

The implementation can be:

drawing tool
colouring tool
connect the dots to make a picture
piece an object together
find hidden items
find two a-like
find all animals / fruits / numbers etc
make music
add sound FX to music
add sounds to animation
make a cake / car / sand castle etc
…Or whatever you come up with!

The project should include loads of humor, sillyness and all things surprising. The more you enjoy your ideas, the better the end result will be!
