Galaxi Quest

Galaxi is a Yleisradio’s web service for school kids from ages 8 to 11. The television show of Galaxi is going through a renewal in the end of 2011. The visuality (graphics and stage equipment), music and the whole web site is going to be changed. Also the program itself is going through an internal change. The target audience is going to be the same, but the new program is adding new content in weekday shows in addition to weekend morning shows.There will be a new gameshow called Bofori starting in September, which raises Galaxi’s ratings way more than i’s predecessor Operation Hurricane.

Games and Animations have always been the most popular content on Galaxi’s website. Bofori, which was published in mid-August, has been a huge success even before its TV-show has been published.

What’s new for the school kids?

The target audience of Galaxi enjoy playing games and solving puzzles. Also the social aspects and practicing social media skills with your own nickname is interesting for them. This year we are looking for traditional implementations (games or other media) for Galaxi web site. The other option is to let the users create music of their own to the website. According to Lasten Mediabarometri 2010, almost all school aged kids listen to music in their daily lives.

The implementation could be:

• One big game, that can be edited and versioned later
• a series of smaller games
• musical implementation, where the user can sample music from ready-made pieces
• …Or something cool you come up with!

The project should include loads of humor, sillyness and all things surprising. The more you enjoy your ideas, the better the end result will be!
