Fastems manufactures flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) and robot cells for automating metal cutting CNC machine tools, and provides services related to automation. Fastems works together with all major metal cutting machine tool manufacturers and integrate their products into automation solutions. The most of the products are in-house designed and remarkable portion of the deliveries are tailored to meet the end customer requirements. Fastems project business is a multi-project environment where several ongoing project shares the same resources. Team members are geographically scattered and have responsibilities in many projects at a time.
What’s new?
Conventional project management solutions suffer from the lack of the project team member input. As known, the project management system is as valuable as the data inserted into system. By having input from all people involved to project, tracking and estimates would become more reliable and accurate. Web 2.0 features – blogs, wikis, messaging – will be part of the project team collaboration. These new features will give essential information of the project state along with traditional progress tracking and resource management features.
The project is going to be a window of opportunity to see traditional industrial project management practices and be part of renewing those practices to the next level.
Project goal
The goal is to develop a concept of collaborative project management solution with a bunch of fresh collaborative features. The project concentrates on bringing project management into everyday work with a co-creation platform. Target is to increase user involvement, knowledge transfer and collaborative learning in industrial environment. The concept should highlight user experience so usability aspects will also be highlighted in this project.
In this project we will use service design approach and the concepting work will be done in collaboration with real users and Fastems management.
Also available commercial and open source solutions will be benchmarked to be the basis of final solution.
