Next generation web-based network management system

The goal is to create and demo a new approach of configuring and managing large communication network. The subject is highly technical and many times the created systems have become way too technical, so a new way of thinking is needed. We want to create simple, not boring, and usable approach and user interface concept for that kind of system.

Traditionally this kind of system has based on some kind of client-server architecture with separate UI and server applications. However, web technologies have developed to the point where same thing could be achieved with browser as client software and server acting also as HTTP server.

Project goal

In this project the focus is on creating novel approach how to manage communication network in dynamic environments and therefore communication engineering skills are highly valued! The project can be divided into two parts 1) concepting 2) implementation.

Implementation should consist of web server implemented in Java or at least it should connect into network management system with Java-API. The HTTP server should offer client a user interface working in various modern browsers supporting HTML5 and CSS3 technologies. No additional plug-ins should be needed.

It is desired that the UI is graphically rich (2D or even 3D) and interactive, yet simple to use. UI should be usable on desktop computers, tablets and mobile devices. It should be possible to control UI with keyboard/mouse and through a touch screen.

About us

Insta DefSec provides solutions and services for network-based command, communication and training systems, as well as produces integration and maintenance services for defense systems.

We develop a wide-range of integrated Command and Control (C2) systems for military and crisis management systems. Developed systems enhance situational awareness by supplying all users with a consistent situation picture in real-time and enable timely decision-making, therefore shortening the time required for making decisions, giving commands and executing them. Graphical Information System (GIS) and Map based solutions play an important role in the developed systems.
