InnoSummer 2012

The application period for innosummer 2012 has ended! Thank you for all the great applications. Now we will start going through each and every application in order to determine the best candidates for the upcoming summer experience! We will start inviting people to interviews during the next few weeks, and we should have the final roster decided by the end of this month.

We will also update more information on our Facebook webpage, so navigate to this address: https://www.facebook.com/uusitehdas.demola and click “LIKE”

InnoSummer is an award winning summer job campaign in Demola of New Factory. The campaign is open for TAMK, TUT and UTA students who wish to take part in a meaningful project with a future. We offer full-time work, credit points and a competitive salary in an inspiring and enthusiastic environment in the heart of Tampere.

This will be the 4th InnoSummer, in which we will hire a large group of students to do projects with various companies. The previous campaigns have spurred even further job opportunities for the most talented students, so don't miss this chance to really show what you are made of! This year we are cranking up the numbers even further!

Of collaboration and feedback

A while ago I was interviewed at UTA about collaboration projects, Demola-based and otherwise. The questionnaire was something one could expect: What did you do? How many hours per week did you use? How much guidance did you get?

When we were finally done with the questionnaire I was asked about the biggest difference between a Demola-project and a university-project(that was done in collaboration with Demola, but the main actor was the university). The difference was easy to point out - in a university-related project you are given an assignment, expected to work on it for next three months, and then you will show the results to the teacher(s) and collaborating party.

With the demola project, in contrary, the 'norm' is, from the beginning, to keep active contact with  the organization you are working with - weekly, bi-weekly or at very least monthly meetings where the project and anything related to it can be discussed, evaluated and commented. I am not saying this would be impossible in a university-led project, but the norm seems to be far from this kind of practice.
